Questions you may have

I have come up with a list of questions that might help you better prepare for your upcoming session. If you do not see your question listed below, please let me know and I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

How long are your portrait sessions?

Generally most sessions are around 1-2 hours, depending on what type of session we're photographing. Beach sessions don't last quite as long since we're only at one location and there is no shade. Please contact me for more details about weddings.

What time of day will our session be?

I typically will schedule an outdoor session a few hours before sunset. Beach portraits are scheduled a little closer to sunset. I've found photographing during that time verses early afternoon helps prevent squinty eyes and harsh shadows. Indoor sessions are best scheduled early afternoon or when the most light is being filtered through the windows.

What if it rains on our session day?

Unfortunately we cannot predict the weather. If it happens to be raining during the time your session is scheduled, we will reschedule for another day at no extra cost to you.

Where should we have our photos taken?

Essentially the location is up to you depending on the type of session and the style you prefer. For example, with a country style session the location would usually have barns, open fields, etc. I have several locations where I enjoy photographing but I'm always open to new ideas. I will help you decide what is best for your family.

What should we wear?

The first thing to think about is where you plan on hanging the portraits and what colors are in that room. You want the colors of your image to compliment the room where your images will be displayed. I've found the best way to dress a group is to coordinate, but not matchy matchy. Decide on a color scheme and use those colors in everyone's outfit. Bold prints tend to be a distraction from the main subject in the photo...you!

What does your session fee include?

The session fee includes the time, talent, and travel of the photographer. CDs and prints are ordered after the images are online to proof.

What happens after the session?

Session editing takes around 1-2 weeks. I will contact you when the proofs are online to view. Once you place your order, the images should be ready with 2-3 weeks.

Do you offer photography gift certificates?

Yes, I certainly do! Gift certificates are great for birthdays, expecting mothers, holidays, and many other special occasions. You can purchase a dollar amount or a complete session with CD and/or prints. What better to remember a special occasion by than a custom photography session.
